The efforts of Samskrita Bharati resulted in large number of residents of different villages conversing in fluent Samskritam. Around 1985, Mathur, a village in Karnataka State became a Samskrita village when a large number of families, irrespective of their caste and creed and profession, started to speak Samskritam in their homes.   Scenes like shopkeepers bargaining in Samskritam and rickshaw (Indian village cab!) drivers arguing in Samskritam became a reality !
