Correspondence Course

FAQ

1. What are the different levels of the correspondence course?

There are four levels that mark Samskrita Bharati’s distance learning or correspondence course

program. In order of increasing Samskritam competency, they are Pravesha, Parichaya, Shiksha, and

Kovida. No prior knowledge is required for Pravesha (first level) as the lessons begin with the basics.

2. How do I know which level to register for?

We recommend that you begin with Pravesha. However, if you have studied Samskritam before and

would like to start from a higher level, then we invite you to visit our website
(http://www.samskritabharati. org/newsite/distancelearning.php) for information. There, you may review the final exams

for Pravesha and Parichaya levels. This may help you decide on the ideal course level for you.

3. Does the Pravesha course come with any of the beginnerlevel publications or must they be

ordered separately?

No, the Pravesha course does not include any of the beginnerlevel publications. In addition to

enrolling in Pravesha, we would recommend the Deluxe Beginners' set for $100. This has the VCD set

that helps you learn conversational samskritam. Also, included are books that will help you learn and

practice the Devanagari script. This may be ordered separately by visiting our publication section

online at: (http://www.samskritabharati.org/newsite/publications.php#beginner)

4. How much time do I have to complete this course?

While it is anticipated that the duration of each level will take approximately six months (at the pace

of approximately an hour a week), there is considerable variation that participants demonstrate.

Some expend more time per week and conclude earlier, while others take longer to complete this.

Whatever pace works for you, works for us!

5. How can I register for the Correspondence Course?

You may enroll in any level of the correspondence course by sending a check ($100) made payable to

‘Samskrita Bharati’ along with your name, mailing address, phone number, email id, and the reason

for studying samskrit to the following address: Correspondence Course (Enrollment), Samskrita

Bharati, 1044 Lancer Drive, San Jose, CA 95129

6. How does the process work after mailing my check?

the study material. Every lesson contains a question paper and every grade has an examination. A

panel of teachers will correct your answer papers and mail it back to you
