FAQ 1. What are the different levels of the correspondence course? There are four levels that mark Samskrita Bharati’s distance learning or correspondence course program. In order of increasing Samskritam competency, they are Pravesha, Parichaya, Shiksha, and Kovida. No prior knowledge is required for Pravesha (first level) as the lessons begin with the basics. 2. How do I know which level to register for? We recommend that you begin with Pravesha. However, if you have studied Samskritam before and would like to start from a higher level, then we invite you to visit our website (http://www.samskritabharati. org/newsite/distancelearning.php) for information. There, you may review the final examsfor Pravesha and Parichaya levels. This may help you decide on the ideal course level for you. 3. Does the Pravesha course come with any of the beginner‐level publications or must they beordered separately? No, the Pravesha course does not include any of the beginner‐level publications. In addition toenrolling in Pravesha, we would recommend the Deluxe Beginners' set for $100. This has the VCD set that helps you learn conversational samskritam. Also, included are books that will help you learn and practice the Devanagari script. This may be ordered separately by visiting our publication section online at: (http://www.samskritabharati.org/newsite/publications.php#beginner) 4. How much time do I have to complete this course? While it is anticipated that the duration of each level will take approximately six months (at the pace of approximately an hour a week), there is considerable variation that participants demonstrate. Some expend more time per week and conclude earlier, while others take longer to complete this. Whatever pace works for you, works for us! 5. How can I register for the Correspondence Course? You may enroll in any level of the correspondence course by sending a check ($100) made payable to ‘Samskrita Bharati’ along with your name, mailing address, phone number, email id, and the reason for studying samskrit to the following address: Correspondence Course (Enrollment), Samskrita Bharati, 1044 Lancer Drive, San Jose, CA 95129 6. How does the process work after mailing my check? From the time that the check is mailed, it takes approximately 4‐6 weeks for you to have receipt ofthe study material. Every lesson contains a question paper and every grade has an examination. A panel of teachers will correct your answer papers and mail it back to you 7. Yes, certificates are awarded to every applicant after the successful completion of each level by Samskrita Bharati USA. 9. Is Samskrita Bharati’s Correspondence Course recognized? Yes. This is recognized as satisfying Samskrit language requirement for admission to the distance learning program in Samskrit at Open Karnataka University (India). |
