Our Growth

pragatiH The Breakthrough instructional technique has recieved massive support and is scaling from success to success. Hundreds of thousands of people (many without any prior knowledge of Samskritam) have participated in the camps and learnt how to Speak in Samskritam. Our activities have spread to about 1000 cities, towns and villages in India and 50 cities in 13 other countries. We have trained over 70,000 shikShakas - teachers.

Samskrita Bharati came to North America in the late 90's, and since then, has grown to 18 kendraas in USA and Canada.

Notable achievements in our history

1981 - Launched the Movement.

1983 – Held a 10-Day Speak Samskritam class in parliament House exclusively for MPs.
1986 – Organized National Seminar on “Samskritam and Computers” sponsored by Computer Society of India.
1989 – Govt. of Karnataka adopted method of “Teaching Samskritam through Samskritam”
1995 – We started our activities in other countries, including USA.
1996 – CBSE adopted Communicative Approach in teaching Samskritam.
1997 – Following Govt. of NCT Delhi's request, we trained their teachers.
1999 – Govt of India declared year 2000-2001 as Samskrita samvatsara - Samskrita Year.
2000-2001 – Samskrita samvatsara was celebrated all over India in a grand manner.
2001 – Govt of India declared Samskrita saptaaha - Samskrita Week to be observed every year.
          UGC started Spoken Samskritam Training Centers in 1000 colleges and Universities
      NCERT takes up ‘Samskritam Through Samskritam’ Project.
2003 – Governments of Kerala, Gujarat, Andhra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and a few Samskrita Universities adopted ‘Teaching Samskritam through Samskritam’.
          Govt of India launched 1200 Centres of Non-formal Education in Samskritam and TV programs in Samskritam with our help.
2005 – We organized 15,000 Speak Samskritam Classes in 10,000 places all over India.
2008 – Washoe County of California State, USA, announced Jan 12th as Samskrita Dinam - Samskrita Day.
